Trip to Cebu...
Home sweet home! hehe... I just arrived earlier this afternoon from cebu on board cebu pacific. I went there to take up the De La Salle University entrance exam, and while in there, of course, I took the opportunity to go SHOPPING!
I went with my mom, tita sandra, ninang maritess with her family. It was one kind of a trip. There were many of us students who went there to take the exams. Mostly kasabay ko to go there were students from SHC but their schedule for the test was earlier than mine. But nung test ko na, I was surprised to see Cherie Mae and her classmates from Phil Sci! Kasabay pala namin ni Hearts yung mga Pisayan.. Of course before the exams, chika lang kami ng chika.. We've got a lot of catching up to do..
Anyway, finally, I'm done with all the entrance exams that I planned to take. Here's my personal evaluation for the entrance exams that I took:
University of the Philippines:
This was the first entrance exam that I took that's why I really prepared for this test. I chose UP Diliman for my first choice of campus, I chose Business Administration and Accountancy, and Psychology for my second choice; while for UP Tacloban, I chose Accountancy, and Management as my preferred courses. The test really drained ny energy. Of course, that was my first time so I wasn't able to anticipate its difficulty. But then, the difficult part there was math. It was more on problem solving. And the worst part about this test was that it was right minus one-fifth wrong so guessing won't help you much. The test was more on analogy. But there was also a Filipino part. The English was just okay. Over-all the test was just okay but then entering UP tends to be difficult because there are many applicants vying for the limited slots. So , may the best stude get the slot!
Ateneo de Manila Univerity:
This test was the most nerve-wracking for me, especially that I'm dreaming of entering Ateneo (Go Blue Eagles!). Not only that, I was the only one from pur class who took the exam. Some of my classmates who were interested weren't able to secure an appliacation form from Holy Infant. And also, we had a sheduled summative test in math during that day. So I eventually took the summative test in the morning, and the entrance test in the afternoon. The test had two parts. The proficiency test and the aptitude test. The proficiency test had 2 subtests, the English and Math part (no science but there is gen info). The english was somewhat the same with UP, but the math part has less problem solving (Thank God!), but the problems were more on advanced math. I really felt thankful that some of the topics were already taught in our Chinese math, but I really don't have any background on some of the topics. The aptitude test was more abstract reasoning. Over-all, the test was quite difficult but unswerable. What you need is SPEED in anwering since you will be really time pressured. The test was not that long but the time allotment was short. By the way, there was an essay portion. My topic was about being a hero in the 21st Century.
University of Sto. Tomas:
This was the easiest among the four. Especially the math part. And this was also the shortest test.
De La Salle University:
This was my last test. We took the test at Sacred Heart School for Girls in Cebu (How I wish they had a testing center here.). The test was long to the point that you'll get tired of thinking plus you have to work fast too. Some of the topics weren't discussed to us thoroughly yet but we had them from our chinese math during the past years like trigo and stat (3rd year last year). And probability (1st year). But then, I already forgot most of them! The Science part was more on physics I think, and we haven't discussed some of the topics yet also. There were essays too! This time, both in Filipino and English. The topics of those who took the exam in the morning were more difficult than ours. Their topics were the role of youth in fighting against corruption in the gov't, and naniniwala ka ba na ang edukasyon ang sagot sa pg-unlad ng isang bansa (filipino). Ours were Why do we need to have English proficiency, and anung kurso ang kukunin mo? bakit? (filipino)
Overall, this is how I would arrange the 4 tests based on its difficulty (5 being the most difficult):
UPCAT :3
ACET:4
USTET : 2
DLSET :5 :)
